Cousiño Palace

The Cousiño Palace was built between the years 1870 and 1878 by the french architect Paul Lathoud for Miss Isidora Goyenechea widow of Luis Cousiño.
The Cousiño Goyenechea's were a wealthy family, owners of the mines of Lota (coal), Chañarcillo (silver) and of the Vineyard Cousino - Macul, which still belongs to the family.
In 1940 the Palace was taken to auction with all their belongings. After the first round of the auction, the Mayor of Santiago, at the time, Mr. Pacheco Sty, reached an agreement with the family, who practically donated the property to the city for the sum of three million dollars in bonds to serve as lodging for distinguished visitors who were coming to the capital to mark the fourth centenary of the City

Santiago Stock exchange
In Chile, the first attempts to create a stock exchange took place in 1840 with little success. In 1884 there were 160 Corporations, that forced the establishment which led to the establishment of a stock market specialist who moved to securities transactions.
On November 27,1893 the Santiago Stock Exchange was founded, a major step to inject vitality and dynamism to the economy. In those years, there were already 329 Corporations, most of them dedicated to mining.
